Photoshoot with TIMA

As my early followers will know, I received my qualification in makeup artistry with The International Make-up Academy (check them out on Facebook!). After this, we had a photoshoot with the Academy in which we were required to create two looks. The first was a "no makeup" look, with the second look being a more heavy, evening look of our choice.

This is my "no makeup" makeup look on Fiona. As you can see, it is very natural and just enhances the beauty she already oozes! I have not put up a product list for this but will gladly do so if anyone wants!
For this kind of look I just created a flawless base with some light contouring and highlighting and, of course, a peachy blush! I also lightly defined her eyes and applied a light pink lipstick and gloss in a shade close to her own.

As it was the beginning of June, I decided to go for a Summery evening look, that wouldn't look too heavy but was still night-time appropriate. I have already posted a product list for this look which you can find here!
For this look I went heavier on the contour and highlighting, as well as adding some shimmer and more definition to her eyes. I applied individual lashes and brought her shadow down under her eyes, with an orange-y red lip for that Summer feel!

I hope you liked these looks! Feel free to ask any questions about them and go ahead and like The International Make-up Academy on Facebook for beautiful looks from many other talented artists!

I have previously shared these looks and more on my own Facebook page, Pooky Banana Makeup and my Instagram, @pookybanana

Hide the Hangover Makeup

We've all done it. Those "I'll just have one or two" nights that turn into you stumbling in at 5 in the morning, sending blurry eyed snapchats that you will forget about the next day. The morning after the night before arrives and of course, you've overslept, and of course, a busy girl like you has a million can't-be-missed plans for the day.
Damage control.

It's times like this that makeup really stands to us. Here are my tried-and-tested surefire ways to hide the hangover and have you looking fresh as a daisy!
They're listed in order of importance:

♡ Concealer

This is one of the best ways to appear more awake and fresh. Disguise those eyes with a peach toned concealer (this is specific to fair skinned ladies. If you are darker and unsure what concealer to be using, just ask!). Peach neutralises blue-y/purple hues under the eye better than any yellow concealer will. I like to use a peach tone from my 20 shade concealer palette (review here) and for extra radiance, I apply Kiko Cosmetics Natural Concealer in shade 01 to the inner corners of my eye. You won't recognise yourself!

 ♡ Blusher

Blusher will instantly make you look flushed and healthy , even if you feel washed-out and dried-up. It's amazing how many women skip it, but it adds so much life to a face that it should never be taken for granted! For my fair skin I love the Catrice Defining Blush in 030 Love & Peace. For super pale people, orange blushers are really flattering. For those who are not super fair, peach tones will look beautiful. Darker ladies will look beautiful with deeper tones, such as pink-y reds with a hint of orange or shimmer.

♡ Foundation

It is so so important that you choose a foundation that is the correct shade! Obviously this is true of everyday makeup, but even more so when you're hungover as a foundation that is too light will completely wash you out! At the moment I am loving EsteĆ© Lauder's Double Wear foundation as it has great coverage and a satin matte finish, all the while being super smudge proof!

 ♡ Highlighter

The goal is to appear more awake and brighter, so highlighter is not to be forgotten! I have every Benefit highlighter, Topshop's blogger-favourite Glow and lord knows how many more,  but at the moment I am absolutely loving this cheapo Essence highlighter from their All About Sunrise eyeshadow palette. It gives a glowing sheen that isn't too in-your-face or white looking. I've never seen a highlighter so good but I imagine it is similar to Mac's Soft and Gentle, from what I know! Apply this to your brow bone, cupids bow and cheekbones for an instant lift to your face.

♡ Lipstick

You all know by now that I am such a fangirl for Topshop's Infrared Lipstick! The orange-y red tone is so Summery and flattering on fair maidens! If you are super pale, a light pink lipstick will suit you when applied with your fingertips to add a light pop of colour. If you are darker, apply this same technique but with a darker shade of pink, such as Mac's Show Angel. The magenta tone will really suit darker skin!

Aaand there you have it! The essentials that will have you looking bright eyed and fresh, no matter how bad you feel on the inside! These few staples (paired with a lick of mascara and brushed brows) will be the 5 minute makeover that takes you from looking like Marilyn Manson to Marilyn Monroe!

I hope you enjoyed reading and as ever, thank you so much for all your lovely feedback!

Tips for Lips

Ciao!
You may notice I am posting more frequently lately. I have set myself the challenge of trying to post everyday seeing as I am on my Summer break from college, so watch this space for lots of beauty tips, outfits and of course makeup tutorials and reviews!

Today, I am posting my top tips for perfect lips. I am a huuuge fan of colourful lipstick and any lover of colourful lippy will know that you need to perfect your application skills to pull off funky shades.

(Super Smart Lip Liner, 710 Rouge Noir, Kiko)

Always apply lip liner. This is a number one must. It prevents lipstick from bleeding and it is easier to create a clean line as it is drier than lipstick.

Always sharpen your lip liner before you use it. This will help to achieve a clean line. HINT: If you don't have a liner in the shade of your lipstick, apply one that is the same as your natural lip colour.

Lipstick lasts longer when applied with a brush. As lipstick is a cream product, it is best applied with a synthetic haired brush.

Don't use so much! Most lipstick application errors and smudges occur because there is too much product on the brush.

If you make a mistake and your lipstick smudges, take a Q-tip and roll the smudge inwardly to your lip. Continue this rolling technique until the smudge is gone.

To mattify lipstick, dust a tiny bit of translucent powder over the top.

For a super, clean-cut look apply concealer in a lighter shade around the outline of your lips. Finish by applying highlighter to your cupids bow.

(Luscious Cream Lipstick, 523 Black, Kiko)
